Your plan ends December 31.
Here's what happens if you do nothing.
Cigna is leaving the ACA marketplace in all 11 of its states, and at least a dozen other insurers are pulling out of specific states for 2027. Hundreds of thousands of people are getting "your plan is ending" letters this fall. This page lists who is leaving where, what the system does if you ignore the letter, and the three things to do before the deadline.
If you do nothing
The replacement plan can differ from what you have now in four ways that matter: the doctor and hospital network, the drug list, the deductible, and the monthly premium. Premiums are rising again for 2027, so the automatic pick may also cost noticeably more.
Two exceptions to know about. In Connecticut, ConnectiCare is keeping only off-exchange plans, and its enrollees must pick another insurer's marketplace plan themselves to keep their subsidy. In Florida, Sunshine State Health Plan members are moved to an Ambetter plan if they don't choose.

Three steps before the deadline
- Read the letter for two things: the date your plan ends, and whether it names a replacement plan. If it does, that is roughly what you'll be moved into.
- Check your doctors and prescriptions against the plans you'd actually choose. Use the provider and drug filters on HealthCare.gov or your state exchange. This is the part the automatic pick skips.
- Pick a plan yourself by the deadline. On HealthCare.gov, open enrollment runs November 1 to December 15, 2026 for coverage starting January 1. State-run exchanges must close by December 31; check your state's exact date. The window is shorter than in past years, when it ran to January 15.
